Clinical Therapist & Assessment Consultant
Language: English
Gabrielle Maynard is a thoughtful and engaging therapist whose professional journey bridges clinical care, education, and creative expression. With over four years of experience, she supports children, adolescents, and adults through both therapy and assessment. Gabrielle is especially skilled in helping clients navigate emotional and behavioural challenges with clarity and confidence. While her youthful energy makes her a natural fit with children and adolescents, her clinical strengths and maturity also make her highly effective in supporting adult women navigating issues of self-worth, anxiety, life transitions, and relational stress.
Gabrielle holds a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of South Wales (2021) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the College of Science, Technology, and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (2016). Her early work in multidisciplinary teams alongside psychologists, psychiatrists, and educators helped her develop a holistic, collaborative perspective on care. She has provided group therapy to children and teens with anger and emotion regulation difficulties, facilitated parent support groups, and delivered behaviour therapy services to children on the autism spectrum in Canada under direct supervision.
Currently, at Toronto Psychological Services & Research Centre (TPSRC), Gabrielle provides supervised therapy and assessment services for clients ages 2 to 50. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, OCD, ADHD, behavioural concerns, and emotion regulation difficulties. Her therapeutic approach is structured, compassionate, and grounded in cognitive-behavioural and play-based models. Gabrielle also offers psychoeducation and behavioural consultation to parents and families, helping them build consistent, supportive routines at home.
In her evolving clinical focus, Gabrielle has shown a strong ability to build rapport with adult women navigating personal growth, identity issues, and interpersonal boundaries. This has informed her emerging work in relationship-focused therapy, and she is currently exploring a deeper specialization in couples therapy through professional development training and clinical supervision.
In addition to her clinical work, Gabrielle teaches undergraduate psychology courses at Humber College. She also draws on her prior experience as a special educator to inform her work with children and families, particularly when supporting behavioural and emotional development. Clients describe her as warm, lively, and graceful—able to set them at ease while still maintaining a focused, goal-oriented process. She combines her knowledge of psychology with her creative interests in music, painting, and graphic design, often using metaphor and imagery to help clients access deeper self-understanding. Gabrielle’s clinical work is supervised by Registered Psychologist, Ghia Townsend, MSc. PsyD., C. Psych.
