Understanding Therapy and Counselling Services at TPSRC
At Toronto Psychological Services & Research Centre (TPSRC), therapy is designed to meet clients where they are — developmentally, relationally, and emotionally.
Our services support individuals, couples, and families across all stages of life, helping clients build insight, reduce distress, and create meaningful change.
All sessions are evidence-based, confidential, and supervised by registered psychologists and psychological associates to ensure the highest clinical standards.
Therapy is available in-person and virtually, with fees ranging from $50 to $300 depending on the type of service and clinician’s level of training and professional designation.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy offers a one-to-one setting that helps clients understand patterns, strengthen coping skills, and build resilience.
Sessions are tailored to each person’s developmental stage and therapeutic goals, connecting clinical science with practical, real-world strategies.
TPSRC provides individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
Children
Our play-based, attachment-informed, or other developmentally appropriate therapy options help children express their feelings, manage big emotions, and develop healthy coping skills.
Parents often seek support when their child experiences concerns like frequent meltdowns, anxiety, school stress, difficulty with transitions, or challenges forming friendships.
Adolescents
Therapy for teens provides a supportive space to navigate change, build confidence, and learn emotional regulation skills.
Common issues such as anxiety, low mood, perfectionism, self-esteem, academic or social stress, and family conflict are explored through collaborative, age-appropriate approaches.
Adults
Adult therapy supports personal growth, self-understanding, and improved coping strategies.
Adults often come to therapy to manage concerns like anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, low motivation, life transitions, or the lingering effects of past stress and trauma.
Sessions are goal-oriented, compassionate, and tailored to help clients move from insight to meaningful, lasting change.
Couples & Marriage Therapy
Couples therapy provides a structured, supportive environment for partners to enhance communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection.
Therapy may focus on issues such as recurring conflict, intimacy concerns, parenting stress, or recovery after betrayal or disconnection.
Using Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Relationship, Solutions-Focused, and other Evidence-Based Techniques, couples learn new ways to listen, respond, and reconnect.
It is also not uncommon for couples to work with us to find a way to separate amicably in order to minimize the impact on their children and personal welfare. We recognize that ending a relationship is often extremely challenging and can have long-term emotional as well as financial consequences. It is for this reason that couples sometimes seek our services to navigate this transition.
Family Therapy
Family therapy focuses on understanding and improving relationship patterns within the family system.
Families often seek therapy for concerns like communication breakdowns, parent–child conflict, sibling rivalry, caregiving stress, or challenges related to separation and blended-family adjustment.
Clinicians use systemic, emotion-focused, and other evidence-informed models to help families collaborate, reduce tension, and strengthen connection.
