Individual therapy is one of the most popular forms of therapy. It is an approach in which the therapist works with the client on a one-on-one basis. The therapist works with a client to identify hurdles, help the client work through the problem, and create strategies to achieve their goals. We believe that by gaining insight into life challenges, people can overcome what is holding them back.
Not every individual who seeks counseling is overburdened by stress and tension. In fact, psychotherapy can be an ideal environment in which to discover the best version of yourself by faciliating personal development and growth. Individual therapy may also teach you how to take control of your life and make changes for the better. Once you resolve your painful past experiences and transform negative self-talk into positive self-talk, you’ll develop a better understanding of you. Most importantly, you can enhance access to inner peace and personal strengths, improve your relationships, and further your development in adult life.
At Toronto Psychological Services and Research Centre, we offer psychological services to clients aged two and above. For children, toddlers, and preschoolers, we provide play-therapy as a medium to access therapeutic release and understanding. Our clinical work with adults and adolescents is informed by the indidivdual needs of clients and their lived experiences, and together, we co-create, collaborative therapy plans within a person-centered therapeutic relationship. Our clinicians are primarily concerned with how the world appears from the subjective viewpoint of our clients. We hold positive beliefs about people, and see our clients as trustworthy, capable, dependable, insightful, and deserving of exceptional therapeutic support.

At Toronto Psychological Services, we understand that it takes courage and commitment on the part of our clients to seek personal change and growth. As such, we strive to provide a safe, confidential, nonjudgemental, and unconditionally accepting environment for all clients who walk through our door. Therapy can make us feel worse before we feel better. Our mind may need to process our traumas first, before we can start to work towards improving our mental and emotaional wellbeing.
