Following local and provincial government guidelines, Toronto Psychological Services & Research Centre has implemented the following standard operating procedures to ensure a safe environment for all clients, therapists, and staff. These guidelines were adapted from the College of Psychologists of Ontario and Public Health Ontario. They are subject to change, will be updated as the changing nature of the situation, and upon new directives from the Ontario Ministry of Health.
- Contact-less procedures have been implemented where possible
- Online payment options (e-transfer, phone) prior to your virtual therapy session
- If online payment options are unavailable for you, contactless payment options (debit/credit) are preferred
- Invoices will be e-mailed to you
- Sessions will be made over the phone
- Protective signage including passive screening and proper hand hygiene protocols
- Designated hand sanitization stations upon entry and exit of the therapy office and throughout the office
- Rearranged office layout to provide safe social distancing
- Limited and spaced seating area for essential visitors (guardians or caretakers)
- Designated social distancing spots located 2+ metres apart
- Soft materials (i.e. magazines) were removed
- Clients will be directed to therapy rooms at arrival (please arrive on-time for your scheduled in-person session)
- Therapists will remain in their offices to decrease traffic
- Following extensive cleaning and disinfection protocols from Public Health Ontario and professional regulatory bodies (CPO)
- Thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all assessment and treatment tools, and treatment surfaces (chairs, desks, toys), before and after each client session
- Health Canada approved and hospital–grade disinfectant
- Therapists and staff are required to wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer for 20 seconds before and after each direct client interaction
- Therapists and staff are required to wash hands regularly throughout the day
- Continued virtual therapy support to limit the number of individuals within the facility and allow for easier social distancing from other therapists and clients
- Following all PPE protocols of the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario, as well as professional governing bodies
- Therapists and staff will wear facial protection (masks or face shields) if 2+ metre distance cannot be maintained
- It is suggested that all clients wear facial protection (if available and tolerated)
- Hand hygiene stations will be provided
- Toronto Psychological Services & Research Centre has trained all staff with new return-to-work practices and requirements
